OPEN UP YOUR MIND AND SEE LIKE ME, open up your plans and man you're free. _____________________________________ mackenzie felt the cold air rush against her soft skin. she sighed and pushed some of her hair behind her ear. she grabbed the magazine lying on the ground next to her. she found it in the wreckage and well she needed something if she was going to be on the place for a while. she wondered how her mom felt; her mom didn't even want her to go on the trip. she could blame two people for her going on the trip; christina yang and tristan. christina is her mom's friend and convinced her mom that she should go and tristan was the man she loved but wasn't supposed to because of his girlfriend and her best friend ashleigh brookes. kenzie couldn't blame all of it on ashleigh she had to blame all of it on herself. she ruined her own life.
kenzie laid on her stomach and read the teen magazine that she had read many times before. she rubbed her hands into the soft sand right outside of her tent. she had to share a tent with tristan and ashleigh. it caused a lot of tension because tristan is cheating on ashleigh with kenzie. she sighed and turned the page. she was truly happy that ashleigh and tristan went to find some food. she was able to spend some time sorting out her thoughts.
she pushed off her flip flops and rolled onto her back with her head on the mag. she stared at the beautiful sky and closed her eyes. she cupped her hands around her eyes before opening the again. she sat back up and reached her hand towards the cooler for some water. she pulled out the bottle and unscrewed the top before draining half of the bottle. and at last, all the pictures have been burned, and the pastIS JUST A LESSON THAT WE'VE LEARNED Shiloh groaned, throwing an arm over her eyes. No, this was supposed to all be a dream! Ugh, some dream this was, it was more of a nightmare. She whined wordlessly, sitting up and wrapping her arms around her legs so she could bury her face in her knees. When she was finally ready to start moving again, she grabbed her backpack and pulled out the clothes she would wear today; a longsleeved red and gray shirt, denim miniskirt and gray leggings, and then black boots. She ran out into the forest where she was sure no one was around and began stripping off her clothes, then yanked her fresh ones on as fast as possible.
Then, just as fast as before, she ran back to camp, feeling somewhat safer there. Without breaking a sweat, she observed somewhat proudly. Even though it was kind of hot under her long sleeved clothes. But after all, she was used to hot things, so it didn't really matter anymore. She chewed on her fingernail, looking around at the camp. Or, what was left of the nail. She sighed again as she looked down at the ragged, spit-covered nail and dropped her hand, scratching the back of her neck out of pure boredom. Then she walked to her tent and crawled in, grabbing her backpack again and then yanking her iPod out of it, she dropped it back down carelessly. Once finding a song that she felt like listening to, or a playlist with the title 'Trapped', something she had made long ago on her laptop but it seemed fitting now.
The first song that played was Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson, and it was absolutely fine with her for now. She hummed along as she ducked a few inches lower than her original height so she could get back out of the tent and walked over to the cooler, where an enviously taller and prettier blonde was laying. Shiloh quietly walked over, grabbed a water, and sat down a few feet away, trying not to disturb the girl. Gee, what she would give to be pretty in her own eyes. She wasn't vain and she didn't think she was ugly, but she didn't really find herself pretty either. She was too skinny and too short, and her disfiguring scars helped absolutely none for the young girl. Of course her father hadn't helped her self-confidence, always yelling at her and telling her things little girls should have never heard.
What was the other girl's name, anyway? Shiloh was never a really social person, and it wasn't like she ever talked at school or church or anywhere really, this was as close to socializing as it was going to get, most likely. She played around with the top of the water bottle for a while, then she finally removed it and took a long swig.

OPEN UP YOUR MIND AND SEE LIKE ME, open up your plans and man you're free. _____________________________________ mackenzie turned back onto her stomach and started reading the magazine again. she drank some of the water again before it was empty. she threw the empty bottle back into her tent and landed on her sleeping bag. she sighed and turned the page. she pushed her hair out of her face and pushed it behind her ear. she closed the magazine and threw it back into her tent when she saw a small blond girl sitting near her. "Hello." she said smiling.
the girl was pretty small and pretty. kenzie sat up and pulled her jacket over her cold body. she pulled her sunglasses from the top of her head and onto her eyes. her eyes had bags under them like everyone on the island.
